What changed with the new version?
The biggest improvement with the Litter-Robot 4 is the fact that it’s very quiet (check out the video). We used the Litter Robot 3 for a full year, and while it was fantastic, it was pretty annoying to have in the living room while you’re watching a TV show. But with this new version, you’ll barely hear it doing its job, even when you’re right next to it. The entrance is also wider and more inviting for cats, and the waste receptacle is larger, so you don’t have to empty it as often. Plus, the controls are located on the top of the dome, making them much easier to access.
Aside from the convenient features, the Litter-Robot 4 is also great at trapping smells and dust. A combination of a tightly sealed carbon-filtered waste receptacle and upgraded sifter ensures no odor or dust will get out.
Plus, the Litter-Robot 4 has more features on the Whisker app, making it even easier to keep track of your cats. The sensor recognizes each cat by weight, and it tracks their usage. You can also monitor your cats’ weight, and any changes will alert you to contact your vet. Plus, it will let you know when to empty the waste receptacle and when to add more litter. We’re overall really impressed with the updates.

It does need to be plugged into an outlet to work, but there are two colors to choose from (black and white) and two waste bin options – a step-in to help your cat climb in and a handle for easy opening. Optional accessories, like the odor-trapping pods and litter tracking mat, make the Litter-Robot 4 an even more desirable option. If your cat is too small to set off the automatic cycle sensor, no problem – you can turn it off and manually trigger the cleaning cycle. Plus, there are clear markings to help you measure the litter level, so you can easily keep it at the right fill level. For a deep clean every few months, you can use gentle soap and water, and for the non-electronic components, you can take it outside and spray it down with a hose. The Litter-Robot 4 is the perfect addition to any home looking to keep their kitty’s litter box clean and odor free.
Is it worth the cost?
With it’s high price tag ($699 at time of this article being written), the Litter Robot 4 is very much a luxury item.
